Overview

Equine Loss of Use coverage will pay 70% of the amount of indemnity due under the mortality coverage part in the event that your horse becomes totally and permanently unfit for the use specified in the declarations as a result of an accident, injury, illness or disease first sustained by or that first occurred to the horse during the policy period. Loss resulting from pre-existing conditions, chronic wear and tear conditions and progressive diseases or conditions such as arthritis, degenerative joint disease or navicular syndrome, or conditions and unfitness for breeding are excluded under the Loss of Use coverage. Loss of Use coverage requires the Equine Major Medical & Surgical Expense Endorsement to be purchased in conjunction with this coverage. Upon accepting payment of a claim under this coverage, the insured may be required to relinquish all ownership rights to the horse.
