Stallion Infertility (Accident, Illness & Disease)

This endorsement provides coverage when a breeding stallion becomes totally and permanently impotent, infertile, or incapable of servicing mares due to a new accident, injury, disability, illness, or disease.

What’s Covered

  • Loss due to permanent breeding incapacity caused by new medical conditions during the policy period
  • Losses discovered within 90 days after expiration if the condition arose during the policy term

How Claims Are Paid

  • Pays up to the agreed value of the insured ownership interest
  • The insurer may assume full ownership and possession of the stallion after payment
  • An appraisal process is available to determine residual value if needed

Not Covered

  • Venereal infections in the stallion or mares
  • Pre-existing impotence or infertility

Important Conditions

  • Immediate notice of any signs of impotence or infertility
  • Insurer may appoint a veterinarian for examination
  • If veterinarians disagree, an independent vet is selected to make a binding decision
  • The stallion must have a valid fertility and breeding soundness exam at policy inception
