Equine Major Medical and Surgical</b> covers the cost of medical and surgical procedures including diagnostics as a result of an accident, illness or disease which first occurs during the policy period. Limits of $15,000, $10,000 and $7,500 are available regardless of the insured mortality limit of your horse. Major Medical Coverage is subject to a per-claim deductible that varies based upon the limit of coverage. The $15,000 limit form carries a $600 deductible per claim ($450 in CA). The $10,000 limit form has a $500 deductible per claim ($450 in CA) and the $7,500 limit form carries a $425 deductible per claim ($275 in CA). As long as the accident, injury, illness or disease first occurs and is reported during the policy period, covered treatments may be performed up to 90 days after the policy expiration date.

  • Treatment of lameness condition or injury, including surgery, stem-cell therapy, IRAP, PRP treatment, shockwave therapy, Tildren and related medications are covered at $2,500 per claim, $4,000 aggregate. The per-claim limit in California is $2,000.
  • Diagnostic testing, including bloodwork, bone scan, MRI, CT , myelogram and thermography are covered at $2,500 per claim, $4,000 aggregate. The per-claim limit in California is $2,000.
  • Treatment of gastric ulcers are covered up to $2,500 per claim, $4,000 aggregate (requires diagnostic endoscopy confirming of presence of gastric ulcers). The per-claim limit in California is $2,000.
